Earlier Report Observations

The market volume for uncooked pasta in Africa showed notable fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. Starting at 907.5 thousand tonnes in 2018, consumption dropped to 835.4 thousand tonnes the following year before rebounding to 907.9 thousand tonnes in 2020. A subsequent decline brought the market to 765.8 thousand tonnes in 2022, with a modest recovery to 781.7 thousand tonnes in 2023.

By 2024, the competitive landscape was reshaped by the entry of new international players and the strengthened presence of major European brands such as Barilla and De Cecco. Simultaneously, production costs were affected by global shifts in durum wheat prices, while urban consumer demand increasingly favored premium and convenient ready-to-cook pasta varieties.
