Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2020, the Polish uncooked egg pasta market volume increased from 85 577 t to 91 112 t. This expansion was supported by growing consumer interest in health-oriented pasta varieties, convenient ready-to-cook products, and local flavors. At the same time, producers faced mounting cost pressures from rising prices of grains, eggs, and energy, which began to erode their competitiveness.

In 2021, market volume dropped sharply to 78 954 t following quality control inspections that revealed under-declared egg content and labeling irregularities, likely undermining consumer confidence. A temporary recovery to 85 946 t in 2022 proved short-lived.

The downward trend continued in 2023-2024, with volume falling to 67 739 t in 2024. Persistently high production costs, increased import competition from cheaper pasta sourced from Turkey and the Czech Republic, and legislative changes mandating more sustainable packaging put pressure on domestic manufacturers. Meanwhile, the market value rose to 157.4 million USD in 2024, reflecting higher retail prices and a consumer shift toward premium pasta categories.
