Earlier Report Observations

Triticale production in MERCOSUR experienced strong growth, rising from 33 thousand tons in 2018 to 60 thousand tons in 2022, an increase of 82% over the five-year period. Market volume, driven almost entirely by domestic output due to negligible trade flows, expanded at a similar rate.

Output saw a slight decline to 59 thousand tons in 2023. The year 2024 was marked by the signing of the Mercosur-EU agreement in January, which established a progressive reduction of export duties, and by regulatory changes in MERCOSUR, including the adoption of provisions from Common Market Council Decision No. 12/23, affecting the free circulation of goods and common trade policies.
