This expansion was primarily driven by the crop's growing appeal among farmers due to its low agronomic demands, high yield potential, and the introduction of new, better-adapted varieties. The rising number of approved triticale cultivars enabled better adaptation to local conditions, including drought resilience in spring, supporting higher production.

Following a sharp decline to 266 thousand tons in 2021, the market recovered to 307 thousand tons by 2023. The rebound was supported by continued variety development and selection, as indicated by data from seed multiplication areas and official variety trials. Furthermore, a partial shift in cereal cultivation area trends and enhanced leaf disease monitoring and plant protection measures contributed to stabilizing output in the latter part of the period.
