Asian triticale production expanded from 540 thousand tons in 2018 to 645 thousand tons in 2020, then contracted to 603 thousand tons in 2021 before surging to 747 thousand tons by 2023. The market size, reflecting domestic consumption, followed a similar pattern, reaching 754 thousand tons in 2023 after a temporary dip in 2021.

Trade flows remained modest relative to production volume. Imports rose from 1.3 thousand tons in 2020 to 12.1 thousand tons in 2022, contributing to market growth, then fell to 7.7 thousand tons in 2023. Exports gradually increased from 0.1 thousand tons in 2020 to 1.2 thousand tons in 2023.

In 2024, triticale imports declined to 3.6 thousand tons and exports dropped to 0.4 thousand tons. This coincided with shifts in global supply chains and international trade policies affecting agricultural markets. Concurrently, continued state investment in agriculture and the adoption of advanced technologies, including digital twins and smart manufacturing, supported industry modernization.

Asia's triticale production has grown for the third year in a row. In 2020, the region produced 645.2 thousand tonnes of triticale, marking an 8.3% increase from 2019. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, production rose by 22.2%, with an average annual growth rate of 6.9%.
