Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2024, the toughened safety glass market in Finland experienced considerable volatility. After a 28% surge to 48 351 thousand dollars in 2019, the market contracted by 18% in 2020. A 15% recovery followed in 2021, reaching 45 651 thousand dollars, before stabilization in 2022 at 45 400 thousand dollars.

The market collapsed by 31% to 31 347 thousand dollars in 2023. This drop coincided with a significant downturn in construction activity, particularly in residential housing starts, which reduced demand for safety glass in building projects. Concurrently, rising security requirements in real estate due to the pandemic, geopolitical tensions, and AI development supported demand for glass in security systems but could not offset the overall contraction. In 2024, the market continued to decline, falling a further 18% to 25 675 thousand dollars. Although trends pointed to increased construction volume in the third quarter of 2024 and a growing number of security solutions in buildings, these factors did not prevent further market compression, likely due to persistent weakness in key demand segments.
