This expansion was supported by a series of regulatory changes. Starting in 2018, new construction codes mandated laminated or toughened glass instead of ordinary glass in areas with fall hazards. Further clarifications came in 2019 and 2020, while the adoption of the SFS‑EN 12600 testing standard in 2021 improved product compliance. Stricter CE‑marking requirements for imported glass in 2022 also affected market access.

After peaking in 2022, the market contracted sharply to USD 92.7 million in 2023 and further to USD 84.5 million in 2024. The decline marked a reversal of the previous growth trend, with the market losing nearly one‑third of its value from the 2022 peak.
