Production toughened safety glass in Czechia

Czechia's toughened safety glass production has increased for the second consecutive year. In 2021, output reached 209.8 million US dollars, marking a 6.9% rise from the previous year. Production grew by 14.4% between 2018 and 2021, averaging an annualized rate of 4.6%. The lowest production value was recorded in 2019 at 156.4 million US dollars, which saw the largest decline of 14.7%. In contrast, the largest increase occurred in 2020 with a 25.6% jump.

Exports toughened safety glass from Czechia

Czechia's toughened safety glass exports have declined for the third consecutive year. In 2021, exports totaled 22 706 tonnes, representing a significant reduction of 10.3% compared to 2020. Between 2018 and 2021, exports decreased by 37.7%, averaging an annualized decline of 14.6%.

From 2018 to 2021, Germany, France, and Belgium were the main destinations for Czechia's toughened safety glass exports in kind. Germany accounted for 26.3% of exports, France for 15.5%, and Belgium for 9.6%, together absorbing 51.3% of total exports.

After a two-year drop, Czechia's toughened safety glass exports in value terms have increased. In 2021, exports amounted to 137.1 million US dollars, reflecting a moderate increase of 4.4% compared to the previous year. However, between 2018 and 2021, exports decreased by 15.3%, averaging an annualized decline of 5.4%. The lowest value was recorded in 2020 at 131.3 million US dollars, following the largest decline of 15.2% in 2019.

After a two-year reduction, Czechia's toughened safety glass imports in kind have increased. In 2021, imports registered 35 595 tonnes, which is 19.5% more than the previous year. Despite this recent rise, imports decreased by 22.6% between 2018 and 2021, averaging an annualized decline of 8.2%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2020 at 29 790 tonnes, after the largest decline of 21.5% in 2019.

Data from 2018 to 2021 show that Czechia's toughened safety glass imports in kind were not heavily concentrated on a few key sources. Poland accounted for 18.8% of imports, China for 16.7%, and Germany for 12.7%, jointly making up only 48.2% of total import flows.

After a two-year decline, Czechia's toughened safety glass imports in value terms have increased. In 2021, imports reached approximately 148.7 million US dollars, which is 17.2% greater than in 2020. The lowest value was recorded in 2020 at 126.9 million US dollars, following the largest decline of 10.5% in 2019.
