Following 2018, when the opening of a new fruit processing and packaging workshop in Batken region supported production, the market volume fell to 528.7 t in 2019. The market stabilized at 524.3 t in 2020, coinciding with the adoption of new food safety requirements for all food products, including preserves. Growth to 571.1 t in 2021 occurred alongside temporary state price controls on socially important goods, which likely stimulated consumption. This expansion continued in 2022, reaching 633.9 t. However, in 2023 the market contracted sharply to 360.9 t due to a significant surge in exports, which exceeded 418 t.

In subsequent years, market conditions were shaped by antitrust price regulation on staple foods introduced in March 2024, alongside the abolition of VAT on imports of vegetable oil, flour, and wheat. Rising prices for fresh vegetables and fruits due to supply shortages in 2024 may have boosted demand for preserved alternatives. By 2025, Kyrgyzstan gained access to export frozen fruits to China, opening new sales channels for processors, while a new comprehensive food safety law set stricter production requirements. Increased domestic production of fruits and vegetables also provided a larger raw material base for the preserving industry.

After a two-year decline, production of sugar-preserved vegetables, fruit, and nuts in Kyrgyzstan rebounded in 2021. That year, output reached 516.0 t, marking a 13.7% increase from 2020. However, over the full period from 2018 to 2021, production fell by 27.5%, averaging an annual decrease of 10.2%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2020 at 453.9 t, while the sharpest drop occurred in 2019 with a 27.9% decline.

From 2018 to 2021, Kazakhstan and Russia dominated Kyrgyzstan's exports of sugar-preserved vegetables, fruit, and nuts in volume terms, jointly accounting for 83.9% of total shipments. Other countries held much smaller shares in the export structure.
