The market then recovered to 5 391 tonnes in 2022 before contracting again to 4 726 tonnes in 2023.

In 2024, Croatian market inspectors ordered a recall of frozen strawberries due to elevated pesticide levels, affecting consumer confidence and product safety standards. Simultaneously, strawberry production in the Neretva valley gained competitiveness through lower costs and earlier ripening, influencing domestic supply channels.
