The fresh strawberry market in Bosnia and Herzegovina saw consistent growth in both domestic production and total volume from 2018 through 2021. Production rose from 9 827 tons to 11 717 tons, while the overall market size increased from 9 888 tons to 12 090 tons over the same period.

This upward trend reversed sharply starting in 2022, when production fell to 4 109 tons and the market volume dropped to 4 840 tons. The contraction continued into 2023, with production reaching 3 686 tons and the market size declining further to 4 438 tons, marking a significant reduction from the peak levels observed just two years earlier.

While imports of strawberries increased notably during the downturn, rising from 462 tons in 2021 to 833 tons in 2023, this was insufficient to offset the steep decline in domestic output, resulting in a substantially smaller total market.

Exports reached their highest point in 2019 at 181.4 tonnes, then dropped to their lowest in 2020 at 38.0 tonnes, representing a 4.8-fold difference between these years. In 2021, exports rebounded sharply to 89.2 tonnes, a 134.9% increase compared to 2020. The largest decline occurred in 2020, with a 79.1% drop.
