Following two years of growth, Ukraine's production of starch-manufacture residues declined in 2020. That year, output reached 219.0 K t, marking a 1.4% decrease compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, production increased by 3.6%, with an average annual growth rate of 1.2%. The highest production level was recorded in 2019 at 222.1 K t, while the largest annual increase occurred in 2018 at 4.7%.

In 2020, the value of starch-manufacture residues production in Ukraine amounted to 51 802 K $ US, representing a moderate 3.7% increase from the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, production value grew by 18.8%, equivalent to an annualized rate of 5.9%. The peak value was reached in 2018 at 55 818 K $ US. The most significant decline occurred in 2019 at 10.5%, while the largest increase was recorded in 2018 at 28.0%.

Ukraine's exports of starch-manufacture residues increased for the second consecutive year in 2020. Export volumes reached 105.0 K t, showing an 18.1% advance from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports grew by 24.5%, with an average annual growth rate of 7.6%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2018 at 72.4 K t, which represented a 14.3% decline from the previous year. The largest increase occurred in 2019 at 22.9%.

From 2017 to 2020, Turkey, Israel, and Spain consistently served as the primary destinations for Ukraine's starch-manufacture residues exports in kind. Turkey accounted for 64.8% of exports, Israel for 12.1%, and Spain for 8.1%. Together, these three countries represented 85.0% of total export flows.

Ukraine's starch-manufacture residues exports increased for the third consecutive year in 2020. Export value reached 24 841 K $ US, reflecting a robust 24.2% improvement from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, export value grew by 42.7%, with an average annual growth rate of 12.6%.

From 2017 to 2020, Turkey, Greece, and Norway accounted for the largest shares of Ukraine's starch-manufacture residues exports in value terms. Turkey represented 42.1% of exports, Greece 15.1%, and Norway 14.7%. Collectively, these three markets comprised 72.0% of total export value.

The import market demonstrated volatility during the observed period. Import volumes reached their lowest point in 2017 and peaked in 2018, with a 4.5-fold difference between these years. In 2020, Ukraine imported 0.4 K t of starch-manufacture residues, representing an 87.3% increase from 2019. The maximum import volume was recorded in 2018 at 0.5 K t. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 58.3%, while the most significant increase was recorded in 2018 at 349.8%.

Market performance showed noticeable fluctuations during the period. Import values varied significantly, with a 4.4-fold difference between the low in 2017 and the high in 2020. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 44.2%, while the most substantial increase was recorded in 2018 at 286.7%.
