Between 2018 and 2019, the Polish safety glass market expanded, with market size rising from 499 million US dollars to 567 million US dollars. Production increased from 1 103 million US dollars to 1 170 million US dollars, peaking in 2019 as Poland solidified its position among the EU's leading producers of laminated safety vehicle glass.

From 2020 onward, production entered a relatively flat phase, indicating no major facility expansions or closures. Market size, however, declined to 535 million US dollars in 2021 and further to 481 million US dollars in 2022, while exports remained robust, suggesting a reorientation toward external markets.

By 2023, Polish exports of safety glass reached a peak with a 19% year-on-year increase, cementing the country's role as a key European exporter. In 2024, Poland emerged as the largest producer in the EU, but domestic market size fell to 371 million US dollars as export revenue, which grew to 977 million US dollars, outpaced local demand growth fueled by the automotive and transportation sectors.

Poland's safety glass production continued to grow for the second year in a row. In 2019, output reached 1 170 million US dollars, marking a 6.1% increase from the previous year. From 2017 to 2019, production rose by 15.1%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 4.8%.

In 2020, Poland exported 262.9 thousand tons of safety glass, a decline of 3.7% compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports fell by 6.8%, with a compound annual growth rate of -2.3%. The largest drop occurred in 2018 at 4.4%, while the only increase was in 2019 at 1.1%.

From 2017 to 2020, Germany, Czechia, and Slovakia were the top buyers of safety glass from Poland, accounting for 33.3%, 9.3%, and 8.1% of exports in volume, respectively. Together, these three countries made up 50.7% of Poland's total safety glass exports by volume.

Poland's safety glass exports declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports totaled 725.2 million US dollars, a sharp drop of 10.1% from the previous year. The peak value was recorded in 2018 at 807.4 million US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 11.5%.

Between 2017 and 2020, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Czechia led as the top buyers of safety glass from Poland in value terms, with shares of 35.2%, 10.3%, and 8.9%, respectively. Combined, these three countries represented 54.4% of Poland's total safety glass export value.

Imports safety glass to Poland

Poland's safety glass imports fell for the second year in a row. In 2020, imports amounted to 117.0 thousand tons, a decrease of 25.3% compared to 2019. From 2017 to 2020, imports dropped by 23.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of -8.4%. The highest volume was in 2018 at 117.0 thousand tons, which also experienced the largest increase of 5.7%.

During 2017–2020, China, Germany, and Czechia were the main suppliers of safety glass to Poland by volume, contributing 34.9%, 17.3%, and 12.7% of imports, respectively. Together, they accounted for 64.9% of Poland's total safety glass imports in volume.

After two years of growth, Poland's safety glass imports declined. In 2020, imports totaled 169.5 million US dollars, a significant decrease of 16.9% from the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, imports fell by 6.5%, with a compound annual growth rate of -2.2%. The maximum value was in 2019 at 203.9 million US dollars, while the largest increase occurred in 2018 at 12.2%.
