From 2018 to 2021, the rum market volume in Czechia grew from 7 million liters to 11.7 million liters. This expansion was supported by the category's global momentum, as rum became the fastest-growing premium alcohol worldwide with an estimated 16% growth in 2018, stimulating local demand. The strengthening of distributor Ultra Premium Brands, which became a top-five player in imported spirits, improved premium rum availability. The company's continued growth, projected at 20% for the following period, further sustained the market. In 2021, the market received an additional boost from the development of rum as an investment asset, highlighted by the auction of a Dictador Lalique 1976 carafe, which attracted collector interest, while the launch of limited editions like Zacapa la Pasión broadened the premium segment.

After reaching a peak in 2021, the total market volume entered a period of contraction, declining to 5.5 million liters by 2024. During this phase, the premium and limited-edition segment continued to evolve independently. A new rum bottler entered the Czech market in 2022, introducing the first aged single cask rum editions, which diversified the high-end offering. Exclusive limited releases such as Dos Maderas Luxus also appeared. In 2023 and 2024, the Plantation brand persisted with its limited Black Cask series, featuring blends from multiple origins. An updated 2024 ranking of the best rums indicated that consumer preference for rum was strengthening and even surpassing other spirits like whisky, despite the overall market volume decrease.
