A recovery followed in 2020, with output rising 4.5% to 31.3 million cubic meters. The upward trend continued at a slower rate, reaching 31.9 million cubic meters in 2021 and 32.1 million cubic meters in 2022, before stabilizing near 32.0 million cubic meters in 2023.

In 2024, the market witnessed the expansion of wood processing capacity in Côte d'Ivoire through new plant investments, while Gabon saw the adoption of FSC certifications to encourage sustainable forest management practices.

In Africa, roundwood coniferous production reached 31 255 thousand cubic meters in 2020, marking a 4.5% year-over-year increase. Over the 2017-2020 period, production grew by 6.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of 2.0%. The largest decline occurred in 2019, when production fell by 3.4%. Conversely, the most significant increase was in 2018, with a 5.2% rise.
