Market volume surged to a peak of 52 755 t in 2022. This growth was primarily driven by sustained high home consumption patterns established during the pandemic, compounded by consumer and trade reactions to geopolitical shocks from the war in Ukraine and rising inflation, which prompted increased purchasing. The subsequent contraction to 47 742 t in 2023 and 45 897 t in 2024 was a direct result of persistently high global coffee prices, fueled by climate-related supply shortages in Brazil and Colombia, which dampened consumer demand amid broader economic pressures.

Throughout the period, consumer preferences evolved, creating new segments. Cold brew coffee entered the market, filter coffee gained popularity, and darker roasts saw increased demand. Regulatory developments, particularly the EU's incoming deforestation regulation, began influencing supply chains, while the expansion of Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance certifications further defined the market's character alongside these consumption trends.

The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 32.879 million US dollars, while the largest drop occurred in 2018 at 15.2%.
