Between 2018 and 2020, Indonesia's production of not thrown raw silk remained stable at 2 500 kg annually, with market volume gradually rising from 2 484 kg to 2 504 kg. This stability was underpinned by the country's access to raw materials including silk, while growing consumer interest in clothing trends supported demand for textile inputs.

Production increased to 3 000 kg in 2021, lifting market volume to 3 017 kg. The following year, market volume fell to 2 540 kg due to a significant export shipment of 460 kg, despite production holding at 3 000 kg.

In 2023, production and market volume both reached 3 000 kg. The broader textile sector faced pressure from import regulations, specifically Minister of Trade Regulation No. 36 of 2023, which eased textile and garment imports. Looking ahead, the natural silk industry encountered challenges such as pebrine disease in silkworms, limited production resources for farmers, and insufficient guidance, which threatened output in 2024.
