In 2024, the government approved the National Mission on Edible Oils - Oilseeds to enhance rapeseed-mustard production and processing efficiency, and new players such as Marico Limited entered the value-added edible oils segment, reflecting shifts in consumer preferences and industry structure.

Following two years of growth, India's rapeseed oilcake production declined. In 2020, India produced 4 102 K t of rapeseed oilcake, marking a slight decrease of 0.9% compared to 2019.
