Between 2018 and 2023, the fresh quince market in Azerbaijan showed overall growth, expanding from 31 837 t to 39 492 t. The most significant increase occurred in 2019 when the market volume rose by over 6 500 t to reach 38 419 t. After a minor contraction in 2020, the market recovered and continued to grow through 2022 before declining again in 2023.

This market expansion was primarily driven by rising domestic production, which increased from 32 290 t in 2018 to 42 912 t in 2023. Simultaneously, imports of fresh quinces fell sharply from 310 t to just 53 t, making the market almost entirely reliant on local output. Exports, however, grew more than fourfold from 762 t to 3 473 t, partially offsetting the production growth for domestic consumption.

In value terms, the market exhibited greater volatility. The market's worth peaked at 39 099 thousand US dollars in 2022 before falling to 35 898 thousand in 2023. The discrepancy in 2020, when the physical volume declined by only 1.5% while the value dropped by 12%, suggests shifts in prices or product structure during that period.

After a two-year uptick, Azerbaijan's quince export volume declined. In 2021, the country exported 1 213 tonnes of quinces, down 22.5% from the previous year.
