Earlier Report Observations

Quince production in Asia expanded from 502.5 thousand tons in 2018 to 552.8 thousand tons in 2021. This growth was initially driven by a rapid 4.6% increase in the harvested area across Asia in 2018, supported by an 11% area expansion in Turkey, which boosted output. The upward trend continued as global quince consumption hit a peak in 2021, reinforcing demand for Asian production.

After 2021, production growth slowed, reaching 553.7 thousand tons in 2022 and then a slight decline to 552.3 thousand tons in 2023. This stabilization coincided with a plateau in harvested area in India and Turkey reaching its peak planted area in 2022. The subsequent minor dip in 2023 aligned with a peak in harvested area across the Middle East that year. Accordingly, the market volume rose from 526.2 thousand tons in 2020 to 536.6 thousand tons in 2022 before easing to 533.5 thousand tons in 2023.
