Quince production in Africa reached its highest point at 75.6 thousand tons in 2018, primarily driven by a 4.6% expansion of the harvested area that year, with Morocco leading as the region's dominant producer and consumer. This increase was supported by growing consumer demand for the fruit.

Output then fell by 25% to 56.7 thousand tons in 2019. A significant recovery followed in 2020, with production surging 30% to 73.4 thousand tons, reflecting a rebound from the prior year's slump while global supply chains faced disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic. A gradual decline ensued from 2021 onward, with production falling to 58.8 thousand tons by 2023, a year in which the total harvested area reportedly peaked, signaling a subsequent adjustment in output.

In Africa, quince production reached 73 415 tonnes in 2020, representing a significant 29.6% increase compared to the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production grew by 18.8%, with an average annual growth rate of 5.9%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2019 at 56 651 tonnes, while the highest was in 2018 at 75 608 tonnes. The most substantial decline occurred in 2019, when production fell by 25.1%.
