Continued government support and incentives for growers in 2021 helped push production further to 772 thousand tons. However, a sharp price increase of 33% in February 2022, driven by supply chain issues and higher input costs, pressured producers, leading to a production decline to 744 thousand tons that year.

Production eased further to 727 thousand tons in 2023, with the physical market volume also contracting to 627 thousand tons. In value terms, the market demonstrated resilience, growing consistently to reach $478 million in 2023, reflecting sustained demand and higher price levels.
