Earlier Report Observations

The market for prepared sweetcorn in Oceania experienced considerable fluctuations in volume between 2018 and 2023. Starting from a high of 23 thousand tons in 2018, consumption contracted sharply to 17 thousand tons the following year and remained near that level through 2020. A further decline to 13.5 thousand tons occurred in 2021, after which the market began a steady recovery, reaching 14.3 thousand tons in 2022 and 18.6 thousand tons in 2023.

In value terms, the market's trajectory showed similar turning points but with a stronger final rebound. The market value fell to $19.9 million in 2019, then increased to $21.7 million in 2020 even as volume stabilized. After a slight dip in 2021, value growth resumed, culminating at $27.9 million in 2023, which exceeded the 2018 value of $30 million. This recovery was supported by rising import volumes, which reached 16.5 thousand tons in 2023, while domestic production continued to decline throughout the period.
