The market volume for prepared or preserved pineapples in the MENA region showed considerable variation between 2018 and 2023. It began at 49 902 t in 2018, then contracted to 40 048 t in 2019 and further to 37 625 t in 2020. A recovery followed in 2021, bringing the market to 45 946 t, with near stabilization at 46 574 t in 2022 before another decline to 42 113 t in 2023.

In 2024, imports of pineapples into the region increased to 57 002 t, a rise supported by the Philippines' established dominance as the main supplier. Exports, meanwhile, fell sharply to 1 049 t, a drop that coincided with global supply chain disruptions, including refrigerated container shortages, which elevated shipping costs and altered trade patterns.

Production of prepared or preserved pineapples in the MENA region has declined for the third year in a row. In 2020, the region produced 2 908 tonnes, marking a significant 29.7% drop from 2019. The export data shows irregular fluctuations, pointing to a volatile market environment. Exports reached their lowest point in 2018 at 674 tonnes, then surged by 730.3% in 2019, before dropping sharply by 80.8% to 1 072 tonnes in 2020.
