In 2020, the region produced 12 303 tonnes, marking a 28.4% decrease compared to the previous year. The highest production volume was recorded in 2019 at 17 173 tonnes, which also saw the largest increase of 64.7%.

In 2020, Western Africa exported 2 245 tonnes of prepared or preserved groundnuts, which is 19.4% lower than in 2019. The minimum export volume was recorded in 2018 at 1 471 tonnes, which also experienced the largest decline of 61.1%. The largest increase occurred in 2019, with exports rising by 89.5%.

The United Arab Emirates accounted for 11.6% of exports in volume, the United States for 10.7%, and Vietnam for 9.4%. Together, these three countries contributed 31.6% of total exports, while numerous other nations held smaller but still significant shares.
