Prepared or preserved groundnuts market in Greece

The domestic market for prepared or preserved groundnuts in Greece grew to 12.4 million dollars in 2019 from 11.6 million dollars the previous year, but then contracted to 10.5 million dollars in 2020. Local production increased steadily over this period, reaching 17.9 million dollars in 2020.

Imports of the product fell from 5.1 million dollars in 2018 to a low of 4.3 million dollars in 2020, before recovering to 6.3 million dollars in 2023. Exports, after a slight dip in 2019, began a strong and sustained rise, climbing from 9.1 million dollars in 2019 to 19.0 million dollars by 2024.

The period from 2018 to 2024 was marked by a significant shift toward export orientation for the Greek industry, with export value more than doubling while import levels remained below their 2018 peak.
