The Moroccan poultry meat market volume showed considerable movement between 2018 and 2021, reaching a peak of 1.47 million tonnes in 2019 before declining sharply to 1.27 million tonnes in 2020. It then stabilized around 1.28 million tonnes in the following year.

Growth resumed from 2022, driven by specific industry advancements. The European Union's authorization of market access for Moroccan poultry products in June 2022 created a significant export opportunity, stimulating domestic production. This was further bolstered in 2023 by a 10% expansion in poultry feed output, which strengthened the supply base and supported a 6% increase in poultry meat production, lifting the total market volume to 1.41 million tonnes.

In late 2024, the Competition Council launched an investigation into commercial practices within the poultry feed market, focusing on price factors and sector transparency.

Following two years of growth, poultry meat and offal production in Morocco experienced a decline. In 2019, production reached its peak at 1 464.0 K t, representing a 9.3% increase from the previous year. Morocco's poultry meat and offal production value declined for the second consecutive year. In 2018, production reached its highest value at 1 652 M $ US, with a 2.6% increase from the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production decreased by 14.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of 5.0%. By 2020, the value had dropped to 1 381 M $ US, showing a 14.8% decline compared to 2019.

Poultry meat and offal exports from Morocco declined for the second year in a row. In 2018, exports peaked at 1 144 t, reflecting a substantial 50.2% increase from the previous year. However, in 2019, exports fell by 29.9%, and by 2020, they had decreased to 628 t, representing a 21.7% year-over-year decline. From 2017 to 2020, exports overall decreased by 17.6%, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.3%.

From 2017 to 2020, the main markets for Morocco's poultry meat and offal exports in kind were Liberia, accounting for 34.3% of exports, Vietnam at 18.5%, and Myanmar at 11.9%. Together, these three countries represented 64.6% of total export flows.

The value of poultry meat and offal exports from Morocco declined for the second consecutive year. In 2018, export value reached its highest point at 1 411 K $ US, with a 47.2% increase from the previous year. In 2019, however, the value fell sharply by 37.1%, and by 2020, it had dropped to 683 K $ US, indicating a 23.1% decrease compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 28.7%, with a compound annual growth rate of 10.7%.

From 2017 to 2020, the primary destinations for Morocco's poultry meat and offal exports in value terms were Liberia, contributing 27.9% of exports, Tunisia at 12.6%, and Vietnam at 12.1%. Collectively, these three markets accounted for 52.6% of total export value.

In 2018, imports reached their lowest point at 367 t, but in 2019, they surged to a peak of 2 413 t, marking a dramatic 556.7% increase. By 2020, imports had fallen to 1 311 t, representing a sharp 45.6% decline compared to 2019. The difference between the peak in 2019 and the trough in 2018 was 6.6 times.

Throughout the period from 2017 to 2020, Turkey and Brazil were the main sources for Morocco's poultry meat and offal imports in kind, together accounting for 82.5% of total flows. Other partners each held significantly smaller shares.

The market displayed volatility over the observed period. In 2018, import value was at its lowest at 587 K $ US, with a 34.2% decline from the previous year. In 2019, however, it jumped to a peak of 2 306 K $ US, reflecting a 292.7% increase. By 2020, the value had decreased to 1 572 K $ US, showing a 31.8% year-over-year drop. The variation from the high in 2019 to the low in 2018 was 3.9 times.
