In the initial years, Namibia's poultry meat market remained heavily reliant on imports, though local production initiatives, such as those by Namib Poultry, began to gain traction. However, by 2019, market volume had decreased to 42 284 t, partly due to shifts in trade flows.

Market volume continued to decline in the following years, reaching a low of 33 976 t in 2022. This contraction coincided with global challenges, including avian influenza outbreaks and volatile feed ingredient prices, which affected international product availability and costs, impacting Namibia's market.

A recovery emerged in 2023, with market volume growing to 36 332 t. This increase was driven by sector expansion, private investment, and sustained domestic demand for poultry as an affordable and healthy protein. This momentum set the stage for the 2024 introduction of a new regulatory framework under the Livestock and Livestock Products Act and the launch of major production facilities like Kadila Poultry Farming.

In 2020, Namibia produced 27 977 tonnes of poultry meat and offal, marking a slight increase of 1.2% compared to 2019. The largest decline occurred in 2019, when production fell by 6.0%. Conversely, the highest growth was recorded in 2018, with a 7.2% increase, reaching a peak of 29 399 tonnes that year.

The market showed an unstable trend throughout the period. In 2018, Namibia's poultry meat and offal exports hit their lowest point at just 352 tonnes, representing a dramatic 97.0% decline. The following year, exports surged by an extraordinary 5,865.8%. By 2020, exports peaked at 24 278 tonnes, a 15.5% increase year-over-year, with the difference between the highest and lowest levels reaching 69 times.

From 2017 to 2020, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia were the dominant destinations for Namibia's poultry meat and offal exports in volume terms, together accounting for 82.4% of total flows. Other countries held much smaller shares individually.

The market exhibited an unstable trend over these years. Exports in value terms reached their lowest point in 2017 and peaked in 2020, varying by a factor of 1.9. The largest decline occurred in 2019, with a 12.8% drop. In contrast, 2018 saw the highest growth at 72.3%. By 2020, Namibia's foreign poultry meat and offal supplies amounted to 22 540 thousand US dollars, up 26.5% from the previous year.
