The market volume for poultry meat and offal in Iran began the period at 4.68 million tons in 2018. The following year saw a marginal contraction to 4.65 million tons, influenced by rising feed costs that pressured production economics and a shift in consumer purchasing patterns toward more budget-conscious buying, often concentrated in the first ten days of the month. Despite these headwinds, the market expanded to 4.81 million tons in 2020.

A sharp downturn followed in 2021, with the market falling by 9.8% to 4.34 million tons. This decline was primarily driven by a reduction in chick placement by poultry farmers the previous year, a consequence of the government's removal of preferential foreign exchange rates and difficulties in accessing state-subsidized inputs. The market continued to edge lower in 2022, reaching 4.29 million tons, a year marked by the state-subsidized entry of frozen chicken aimed at regulating retail prices. By 2023, a slight recovery was observed, with the market volume rising to 4.32 million tons.
