Plum and sloe production in Asia declined after two years of growth. In 2019, output reached its peak at 8 292 thousand tonnes, but then fell by 1.6% year-on-year to 8 161 thousand tonnes in 2020. Over the 2017-2020 period, production grew by 2.5%, with an average annual growth rate of 0.8%. The largest annual increase occurred in 2019, when production rose by 2.6%.

Asia's plum and sloe production value declined for the second consecutive year. Output was valued at 11 700 million US dollars in 2018, the highest point in the period, but then dropped by 8.6% in 2019 and a further 3.6% in 2020 to reach 10 301 million US dollars. Exports plums and sloes from Asia

Plum and sloe export volumes from Asia increased for the second year in a row. Exports reached their lowest point in 2018 at 148.1 thousand tonnes, declining by 7.1% that year, but then surged by 60.1% in 2019 to 237.3 thousand tonnes and grew another 9.2% in 2020 to 259.0 thousand tonnes. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports expanded by 62.5%, with an average annual growth rate of 17.6%.
