Earlier Report Observations

The market for plastic reservoirs in Hungary experienced strong expansion from 2018 to 2022. Growth was initially supported by the activity of domestic manufacturers like Zsombi Plast and Sensor Technik, which broadened their product ranges with UV-resistant and durable tanks, while new players entered the market. Continuous improvements in polypropylene and polyethylene processing technologies enhanced production efficiency. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic causing global supply-chain disruptions in 2020, increased state subsidies for eco-friendly manufacturing and a shift in consumer preference toward sustainable, long-lasting containers helped sustain the upward trajectory.

Market growth accelerated in 2021 and 2022 as stricter Hungarian and EU regulations mandated higher recycled content in plastic products. This regulatory push, aligned with sustainability trends, encouraged producers to invest in new production facilities and develop premium product segments. Government incentives for innovation further supported the market, driving it to a peak value of 28 million US dollars in 2022.

After reaching its peak, the market size contracted to 25.1 million US dollars in 2023 and further to 20.0 million US dollars in 2024.
