The industry landscape evolved with increased investment, such as Dongpeng Beverage's construction of new production bases in Hainan and Guangdong to meet regional demand and reduce logistics costs. Regulatory changes, including the updated National Food Safety Standard for Food Additives (GB 2760-2024) implemented in March 2024 and Hainan's local standard for pineapple whole-industry-chain management (DB46/T 628-2024), further shaped production and compliance practices.

Over the 2017-2020 period, production increased by 25.6%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 7.9%. The highest production level was recorded in 2019 at 57 434 thousand liters, with the largest year-on-year increase of 33.1% also occurring that year.

China's pineapple juice exports rebounded after two years of decline. In 2020, exports reached 1 795 thousand liters, showing a substantial 69.6% increase compared to 2019. However, over the entire 2017-2020 period, exports decreased by 35.5%, averaging an annual decline of 13.6%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2019 at 1 058 thousand liters, with the most significant drop occurring in 2018 at 50.6%.

From 2017 to 2020, China's pineapple juice exports were distributed across a wide range of markets. The Netherlands accounted for 15.5% of export volume, Panama for 11.0%, and Vietnam for 9.1%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 1 394 thousand US dollars, while the most significant drop occurred in 2018 at 66.3%.
