From 2017 to 2020, India, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom were notable buyers of peas from Sub-Saharan Africa, but their combined share was not dominant. After a two-year decline, peas shipments from Sub-Saharan Africa to abroad increased. In 2020, exports totaled 14 421 K $ US, which is 5.0% higher than in 2019. From 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 46.2%, equating to an annualized decline of 18.7%. The minimum value was recorded in 2019 at 13 732 K $ US. The largest decline was in 2018, with a drop of 33.9%.

During 2017–2020, the Netherlands, India, and the United Kingdom were important buyers of peas from Sub-Saharan Africa in value terms.
