Orange production in South-eastern Asia has increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the region produced 4,518 thousand tonnes of oranges, representing a 6.9% increase compared to 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, production grew by 22.4%, which translates to an annualized growth rate of 7.0%.

In 2020, the value of orange output in South-eastern Asia reached 4,275 million US dollars, showing a sharp rise of 30.7% year-over-year. Throughout 2017 to 2020, orange exports in value terms from South-eastern Asia were not concentrated on a few key markets. China (7.0% of exports), Bangladesh (3.2% of exports), and Hong Kong (2.5% of exports) jointly accounted for only 12.6% of total export flows.

Over the period 2017 to 2020, imports increased by 10.3%, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.3%. The largest decline was recorded in 2019 at 10.2%, while the largest increase occurred in 2018 at 15.4%, which also marked the peak import volume for the period.
