Honduras' orange market volume grew from 219.3 thousand tons in 2018 to 234.6 thousand tons in 2021, following a recovery from the severe 2017 drought that had reduced harvests. Improved weather conditions in 2018 allowed production to increase, supporting domestic availability despite reported challenges from plant diseases and aging orchards in subsequent years.

The market volume dropped sharply to 187.7 thousand tons in 2022, primarily due to a surge in exports to 65.1 thousand tons. This export spike coincided with global market shifts after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which redirected international trade flows for oranges. By 2023, exports normalized, and the market volume rebounded to 234.4 thousand tons, reflecting stable production supported by major processors like Cofrutco.

Orange production in Honduras declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, the output was valued at 10 654 thousand US dollars, representing a significant drop of 13.5% from the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, production decreased by 20.5%, equating to an annualized decline of 7.4%. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 13 991 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 4.3%.

After a two-year decline, Honduras's orange export volumes increased. In 2020, exports reached 25 813 tonnes, showing a substantial gain of 19.8% compared to the previous year. However, between 2017 and 2020, exports decreased by 61.3%, with an annualized decline of 27.1%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2019 at 21 546 tonnes, while the largest decline occurred in 2018 at 63.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, El Salvador and Guatemala together accounted for 90.2% of Honduras's total orange exports in volume, with the remaining flows distributed thinly across other markets.
