Orange market volume in Guatemala peaked at 200.8 thousand tons in 2019 after growing from 192.7 thousand tons in 2018. It then declined over the next two years, falling to 189.4 thousand tons in 2020 and 178.5 thousand tons in 2021.

The market contracted sharply to 136.7 thousand tons in 2022. This drop was primarily driven by a decrease in local orange supply due to poor harvests in key producing areas like Baja Verapaz and the eastern regions, which reduced production and increased prices. Global supply chain disruptions and rising raw material costs further pressured the market. In 2023, volume stabilized at 138.9 thousand tons as supply returned to normal in production zones such as Villa Canales, Escuintla, and Santa Rosa, supporting a modest recovery.
