Egypt's production of fresh olives began the period at 1 084 thousand tons in 2018 but fell to 981 thousand tons the following year. This decline was linked to persistent industry issues, including a shortage of processing facilities and the import of unhealthy saplings, which affected output quality and volume. In 2020, production stabilized near 968 thousand tons.

Production rebounded to 1 057 thousand tons in 2021, driven by national efforts to boost the olive sector. These included cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture, the Egyptian Olive Council, and the International Olive Council, as well as the ongoing initiative to plant 100 million olive trees launched in 2015. However, unfavorable climate conditions and rising production costs led to a drop to 1 011 thousand tons in 2022.

A significant expansion occurred in 2023, with production reaching 1 185 thousand tons. This growth was supported by measures to facilitate transactions for agricultural investors, attracting foreign investment into olive cultivation and processing.

Egypt was among the world's leading olive producers from 2017 to 2020, ranking seventh globally by production volume.

Egypt's olive production declined for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 968 thousand tonnes of olives, marking a 1.3% decrease compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production fell by 11.5%, which translates to an average annual decline of 4.0%.
