The oil seeds and oleaginous fruits market in the Democratic Republic of the Congo expanded steadily from 2018, with production rising from 50 000 t to 58 804 t by 2023. This initial growth was anchored by the country's foundational agricultural law, enacted in 2011 and still in force, which created a legal framework for the previously unregulated sector. Ministerial decrees in 2020 further bolstered the market by introducing standardization and certification rules for seeds, including oleaginous plants, which improved the quality and reliability of planting materials for farmers.

The upward trend continued through the early 2020s, driven by targeted development initiatives. The government's push to establish agri-industrial parks aimed to stimulate local processing and job creation, directly supporting production growth. Concurrently, the World Bank-backed Project to Support the Development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (PADMPME), active from 2018 to 2024, fostered agricultural entrepreneurship by encouraging innovation in the oil seeds value chain. By 2024, these efforts were reinforced through a new national agricultural campaign and a strategic focus on making the oil seeds sector a pillar of sustainable development under the African Continental Free Trade Area.

In 2020, the country produced 55 298 tonnes, marking a moderate increase of 7.4% compared to 2019. Over the 2017–2020 period, production rose by 10.6%, with a compound annual growth rate of 3.4%.
