A turnaround occurred in 2021, with market volume rising to 15 921 tons. This recovery was driven by a decrease in the supply of groundnuts from key producing regions such as Chimaltenango and Baja Verapaz, which led to higher prices and stimulated increased imports to meet demand.

Market volume stabilized at 15 899 tons in 2022. During this year, growing consumer preference for food products with longer shelf life and the expansion of distribution channels supported demand for processed foods, including groundnut products. These underlying trends contributed to further market expansion, with volume reaching 17 268 tons in 2023.
