The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted trade in 2020, but demand for dried vegetables held relatively steady due to their longer shelf life, with the market volume easing to 47 383 t.

In 2021, market volume dropped sharply to 24 253 t, driven primarily by a steep fall in domestic production. Imports of dried vegetables increased that year but could not offset the decline in local output. The contraction continued through 2023, with volume reaching 22 453 t. During this period, cooperative farming models began using solar dehydration technology to improve efficiency, and the Punjab government established tax‑exempt markets to help lower consumer prices.

Reports for 2024 point to a 31% surge in the market's value, aided by government initiatives that boosted vegetable exports by 43.2% and the further spread of solar‑dehydration cooperatives. Volume figures for 2024 are not yet available in the statistical series.
