In 2024, the market volume decreased to 62 620 K t. This contraction coincided with a 4.2% rise in direct construction costs, propelled by ongoing shortages of skilled labor and increased prices for key materials like cementitious mortars, which placed downward pressure on consumption.

From 2017 to 2020, France, Algeria, and Portugal were the leading destinations for Spain's exports of non-refractory mortars and concretes in volume terms. France accounted for 39.4% of exports, Algeria for 28.4%, and Portugal for 6.1%. Together, these three countries represented 74.0% of total export flows.
