This regulatory push contributed to market volume growth from 6 100 t in 2018 to 7 621 t in 2019, before a contraction to 5 502 t occurred in 2020.

A strong recovery followed, with market size expanding to 8 094 t in 2021 and surging to a peak of 11 920 t in 2022. This upward trajectory reversed in 2023, when volume dropped to 7 644 t.

In 2024, the market volume rebounded to 10 244 t. This recovery was driven by stringent global safety norms and building codes that increased demand across commercial and residential sectors, alongside growing fire-safety requirements from Spain's manufacturing and industrial facilities. The market value, however, decreased to 16 122 thousand US dollars in the same year.

Spain's production of fire-extinguisher preparations in physical terms fell for the second year in a row. In 2020, output reached 14 123 tonnes, showing little change from the previous year. From 2017 to 2020, production grew by 44.4%, with a compound annual growth rate of 13.0%. The peak was in 2018 at 14 637 tonnes, which also saw the largest increase of 49.6%. The most significant decline occurred in 2019, dropping by 3.3%.

From 2017 to 2020, Italy, France, and the United States remained the top buyers of fire-extinguisher preparations from Spain in physical terms. Italy accounted for 28.4% of exports, France for 18.6%, and the United States for 6.5%. Together, these three countries made up 53.5% of total exports.

Over the 2017-2020 period, exports increased by 19.8%, with an average annual growth rate of 6.2%. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 17 347 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 29.0%. The most significant decline occurred in 2019, falling by 5.0%.
