Earlier Report Observations

The market volume for non-coniferous wood fuel in Thailand contracted significantly from 15.8 million cubic meters in 2018 to 10.6 million cubic meters in 2023. This reduction of nearly one-third was predominantly caused by a dramatic increase in export activity, which redirected a large share of domestic production away from local consumption.

Exports surged from 2.7 million cubic meters in 2018 to 7.7 million cubic meters in 2023, with the most pronounced growth occurring after 2020. During the same period, domestic production experienced a mild, steady decline from 18.5 million to 18.2 million cubic meters, while import volumes remained negligible and did not offset the outflow from the market.
