The volume of the Serbian market for fresh or chilled mushrooms and truffles declined from 4 620 t in 2018 to 3 648 t in 2023, a reduction of 21% over the period. After three consecutive years of contraction, the market saw a temporary rebound in 2022, reaching 4 402 t, before falling sharply the following year.

Over the same period, domestic production remained stable at around 5 400–5 500 t annually. Exports more than doubled from 836 t in 2018 to 2 488 t in 2023, while imports, though low initially, began to rise after 2021.

After a two-year decline, Serbia's exports of mushrooms and truffles in value terms rebounded. In 2019, exports reached their minimum at 5 098 thousand US dollars, with the largest drop of 58.1% occurring in 2018. By 2020, exports surged to 7 726 thousand US dollars, a 51.6% increase from the previous year. Overall, from 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 39.9%, equivalent to an annualized rate of 15.6%.
