Guinea's molasses market volume stood at 13 382 t in 2018, supported by the launch of the AgriFARM project aimed at strengthening family farming and improving market access. However, the market contracted to 10 286 t by 2020, a period that saw the adoption of a new Environmental Code imposing stricter assessment requirements for agricultural and industrial projects, likely constraining production expansion.

A recovery to 11 804 t occurred in 2021, coinciding with continued policy support for agricultural sustainability and the AgriFARM project. The market declined again to 10 308 t in 2022 following the introduction of a 20% export tax on rice from India, which disrupted local supply chains and affected sugar prices, thereby impacting molasses production as a by-product.

By 2023, the market volume rebounded to 11 897 t. This growth was facilitated by tax exemptions on sugar intended to stabilize consumer prices and the holding of the States General of Agriculture and Livestock, which focused on enhancing the value addition of agricultural products and strengthening commercial circuits.
