Market volume recovered to 5 121 tons in 2021. However, in 2022, milk powder production dropped by almost 28% compared to November of the previous year, contributing to a market decline to 4 446 tons. A modest production increase in 2023 helped lift the market volume to 4 878 tons.

By 2024, milk imports into Slovenia had risen by over 25%, while milk powder prices were influenced by falling global prices due to Chinese and American tariffs, increased worldwide milk production from lactation disruptions, and a strong euro affecting trade dynamics.

Throughout the period from 2017 to 2020, the three largest markets—Italy, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina—remained central to Slovenia's exports in kind, together accounting for 83.7% of total flows.

Over the period from 2017 to 2020, imports increased by 3.7%, with a compound annual growth rate of 1.2%. The maximum value was recorded in 2019 at 2 791 t, while the largest increase occurred in 2018 at 27.7%.
