Earlier Report Observations
From 2018 to 2023, production of maize flour and cereals in Uzbekistan grew from 136.8 thousand tons to 250.7 thousand tons. This expansion was initially supported by state policies aimed at grain self-sufficiency and the enlargement of processing capacities, which also bolstered export potential.
Improved agrotechnical conditions and continued market liberalization further sustained production growth. By 2022, the introduction of new packaging and storage requirements for agricultural products sought to enhance export competitiveness, while increased processing of imported grain from Kazakhstan added to output volumes.
Shifts in consumer preferences, including a move away from home baking toward ready-made bakery products, provided additional market impetus, supporting the upward trend through 2023.
