The market for maize bran, sharps and residues in Saint Lucia, entirely supplied by domestic production, experienced a sharp contraction in 2019 when output fell to 50 tons from 107 tons the previous year.
From 2020 onward, production entered a phase of sustained expansion. Volume grew by over 12% in 2020, accelerated by 42% in 2021, and continued to rise by 26% in 2022 and 45% in 2023. By the end of the period, output had reached 145 tons, exceeding the 2018 level by more than a third.
