Looking at 2024, imports remained substantial at 125.5 thousand tons, indicating continued reliance on foreign maize products. Drought conditions in Northern Africa during the year constrained local harvests, further exacerbating the need for imports and highlighting the region's vulnerability to climatic shocks.
