The market for liquid eggs in Singapore expanded steadily from 24,348 tons in 2018 to 31,577 tons in 2021. This growth was supported by regulatory efforts to diversify egg imports and promote alternative egg products. In 2019, the Singapore Food Agency actively raised awareness of liquid eggs through cooking demonstrations, stimulating demand. Earlier, in 2018, egg prices faced upward pressure as Malaysia considered limiting exports to secure its own supply, highlighting supply chain vulnerabilities.

After 2021, market volume growth slowed, reaching 32,847 tons in 2022 and then dipping slightly to 32,100 tons in 2023. However, in value terms, the market surged by 27% in 2023 to US$113 million, driven by substantial cost increases. Global pandemic disruptions, higher energy and freight expenses, and the closure of small egg farms in Malaysia tightened supply and raised prices. At the same time, local egg production in Singapore increased, leading to market consolidation around efficient producers.

Throughout the period, Singapore's authorities worked to boost local egg output and reduce import reliance, with plans for a fourth egg farm announced in 2018. By 2023, these efforts, along with rising consumer interest in pasteurized liquid eggs for food safety, shaped market dynamics amid broader inflationary pressures.

Liquid egg production in Southeast Asia has increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the output was valued at 91 243 thousand US dollars, showing a 2.8% uptick compared to the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production grew by 15.3%, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.9%.

In 2020, Southeast Asia exported 5 756 tonnes of liquid eggs, a slight increase of 0.8% from 2019. From 2017 to 2020, exports rose by 7.9%, with an average annual growth of 2.6%. The highest export volume was recorded in 2018 at 7 294 tonnes, which represented a 36.8% increase. In contrast, 2019 saw the largest decline of 21.7%.

From 2017 to 2020, Japan, the United States, and Australia were the core destinations for Southeast Asia's liquid egg exports in volume terms. Japan accounted for 40.2% of exports, the United States for 13.6%, and Australia for 3.6%, together making up 57.4% of total flows.

Liquid egg exports from Southeast Asia declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports amounted to 16 334 thousand US dollars, a slight decrease of 2.8% from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports increased by 11.8%, with an average annual growth rate of 3.8%. The peak value was in 2018 at 21 308 thousand US dollars, reflecting a 45.8% increase. The largest decline occurred in 2019, with a drop of 21.1%.
